OREANDA-NEWS. On 21 July 2008 was announced, that this year, arable units of the grain-processing company PAVA according to the newly introduced crop rotation scheme made a decision to cultivate a whole number of crops including sunflower. Production of this oilseed crop is one of the most profitable in plant cultivation.

In the current year, in OJSC ‘Selhozholding’ (the Romanovsky district) over 700 ha was sown with sunflower. In the neighbouring Volchihinsky district, where a separate unit ‘Seliverstovo’ is located, sunflowers will emerge for the first time as well.

Another PAVA’s unit, OJSC ‘Allak’ (the Kamensky district), has had sunflower among the traditional assortment of crops during a sowing campaign for many years now. Aleksandr Malyuk, OJSC ‘Allak’ Director says that even in the leanest years sunflower fields always returned a profit to the unit.

Part of the crop in OJSC ‘Allak’ is processed and sold as high-quality oil. For pressing, seeds are usually directed to one of the processing enterprises in Barnaul.
