OREANDA-NEWS. July 17, 2008. S7 Airlines, Russia’s largest air carrier by number of transported passengers on domestic routes, announced the opening of mutual sales of electronic tickets (e-tickets) on S7 Airlines flights and those of its foreign partner airlines: Deutsche Lufthansa (Germany), Scandinavian Airlines System (Sweden, Denmark, Norway) and Azerbaijan Hava Yollari (Azerbaijan), reported the press-centre of Sibir Airlines.

Electronic tickets (e-tickets) on all the international flights of these airlines are issued as part of bilateral interline agreements signed with S7 Airlines.

Interline agreements on mutual recognition of paper airline tickets had previously been in effect between the airlines.

Electronic ticket technology is especially convenient for passengers who transfer from an S7 Airlines flight to a flight of a partner airline. E-tickets are stored in electronic form in a special database, so there’s no risk that they will be forgotten, lost or stolen.

S7 Airlines passengers can already purchase e-tickets on the flights of 32 Russian and foreign partner airlines.

The company plans to increase the number of electronic interline agreements to 45 by the end of 2008.
