OREANDA-NEWS. July 18, 2008. TVEL Corporation has won a tender to supply fuel to the Slovak nuclear power plants for a period till 2015, reports a source from the Slovak nuclear operator.

TVEL has made a contract for fuel deliveries to the five existing WWER-440 nuclear reactors of Mohovce and Bohunice NPPs and two new reactors of Mohovce NPP as soon as the latter are commissioned.

“We have decided to continue our partnership with TVEL. We have excellent experience of cooperation with that Russian company,” the source said.

The other participant in the tender, Westinghouse (US), has expressed its deep disappointment with its outcome.

Nuclear Fuel quotes Westinghouse representatives as saying that TVEL won due to the support of Rosatom, who provided it with access to cheap uranium and uranium enrichment technologies. This made TVEL’s offer more attractive.
