Joint Statement by Atomflot and Murmansk Sea Shipping Company
OREANDA-NEWS. July 16, 2008. Shortly the nuclear icebreaker fleet of the Russian Federaion will be transferred from Murmansk Sea Shipping Company OJSC to Atomflot FSUE. In this connection, the companies have released a joint statement saying that, confirming their full compliance with the interests of the owner of the nuclear icebreaker fleet, the Russian Federation, under the project to transfer the fleet from the trust management of Murmansk Sea Shipping Company OJSC into the economic management of Atomflot FSUE and realizing the strategic importance of preserving the fleet and the necessity of informing the population of Murmansk region about the transfer, the parties:
— express their firm commitment to comply – through cooperation and mutual consultations — with the federal schedule of the return of the property from the trust management of Murmanks Sea Shipping Company OJSC into the economic management of Atomflot FSUE
— confirm that they will give top priority to nuclear and radiation safety and environment protection under all procedures for the transfer of the ships to the new operator, Atomflot FSUE;
— pledge to make joint efforts to preserve the unique personnel of the nuclear icebreaker fleet and to ensure intergenerational continuity: Atomflot FSUE will employ all seamen dismissed by Murmansk Sea Shipping Company OJSC in the framework of the transfer.
The parties are deeply convinced that their joint statement will contribute to the successful implementation of all procedures for the transfer of the nuclear icebreaker fleet from the trust management of Murmansk Sea Shipping Company OJSC into the economic management of Atomflot FSUE.
