OREANDA-NEWS. July 14, 2008. The eve of the Professional Day of Seafarers and River Transport Workers, Russia’s Minister of Transport Igor Levitin presented several employees of the Sovcomflot Group with ministerial awards.

Nikolay Kolesnikov, Executive Vice-President of Sovcomflot and Aleksandr Konovalov, Chief Engineer of the tanker Liteyny Prospect, were awarded with Honorary Diplomas of the Transport Ministry for their achievements.

Other Sovcomflot employees were awarded Ministerial Diplomas for their loyal service, namely:
-  Aleksandr Kurtynin, Vice-President
-  Aleksey Ostapenko, Head of the Legal Department
-  Andrey Babahanov, Deputy Director of the Fleet Operations Department
-  Igor Krasnokutsky, Deputy Director of the Fleet Operations Department
-  Anzhela Veshnyakova, Deputy Chief Accountant
-  Andrey Gnidash, Chief Engineer of the tanker Romea Champion.

The Minister also presented “Honorary Seafarer” medals to Captain Sergey Polyakov and First Mate Aleksandr Timoshenko of the tanker Okhta Bridge. The seafarers were recognised for their bravery following the rescue of the international yachtsman Steve Ravussin, after a distress call was sent from his yacht in the North Atlantic, the night of 6 November 2006.

Igor Levitin congratulated all the award recipients ahead of their professional holiday, expressed his gratitude for their achievements and wished all individuals continued success in their work.
