Belarus Makes Amendments to Protection of Consumer Rights
OREANDA-NEWS. On July 08, 2008 the President of the Republic of Belarus signed the Law “On Introducing Additions and Amendments to Some Laws of the Republic of Belarus Regarding Protection of Consumer Rights”, reported the Official website http://president.gov.by.
This enforceable enactment widens the coverage of the Law “On Consumer Rights Protection”. Now the circle of those responsible to the consumer includes not just the sellers, executors and producers, but also the natural persons who, not being individual entrepreneurs, sell products (works, services) to the population in accordance with the legislation: artisans; persons trading in marketplaces and (or) other places for no longer than 60 days a year; persons providing agro-ecotourism services. The new Law also provides for the responsibility of guarantee shops (repair organisations) to the consumers for the quality and time of carrying out repair work.
The Law will become effective six months after its official publication.
