OREANDA-NEWS. On 11 July 2008 was announced, that USD 7 bln, 70 per cent of them private, were invested in the Kazakh capital’s development for the last 10 years. Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev made it public within the meeting with Heads of the States, who came in honor of Astanas anniversary.

The President noted that during 10 years city’s population increased by three times, forming over 700 000 people. Population of capital city Astana will reach 1 mln in 2010.

City’s participation in gross national product formed 1.5 per cent 10 years ago, and now almost 10 per cent, N.Nazarbayev said.

The city surprises not only our guests but us too. We manage to create modern metropolis for such a short time, the President noted.

Head of the State also thanked Presidents of the States, who came to Astana, for their participation in ongoing events in honor of Astana’s anniversary. We tried and will try to do all necessary for your comfortable and happy stay here, Head of the State emphasized.

Presidents of Azerbaijan- Ilkham Aliev, Armenia Serj Sarkisyan, Georgia - Mikhail Saakashvili, Kyrgyzstan - Kurmanbek Bakiev, Russia - Dmitry Medvedev, Tajikistan - Emomali Rakhmonov, Turkmenistan - Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, and Turkey - Abdullah Gul have arrived to Kazakhstan’s capital in honor of Astana’s anniversary.
