NBKR Announced Consumer Price Index in the Kyrgyz Republic
OREANDA-NEWS. On 10 July 2008 was announced, that according to the data of the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic, in May 2008 the increment of consumer price index characterizing the inflation level amounted to 3.0% compared to the previous month (in May 2007 the inflation made 1.5%). Inflation has been at the level of 10.4% for the year-to-date period (May 2008 against December 2007).
According to the NBKR assessments, the inflation dynamic in the period from January to May 2008 was forming the following way: non-monetary factors' impact was 78.0%; monetary factors' impact, including money out of banks and som exchange rate, was 12.6%. Inflationary expectations of the population had 9.4% impact.
In May 2008, the price index for food products and soft drinks increased by 4.8%. The greatest rise was marked in the prices of the following products in the food products market: sugar (by 7.8%), bakery products (by 7.2%), meat (by 6.6%), oils and fats (by 5.3%).
Alcoholic and tobacco products went up by 1.5%.
Nonfoods price index increased by 1.1%. In the category of nonfoods the greatest rise was in prices of diesel fuel (by 7.4%), construction materials (by 6.6%) and petroleum (by 3.3%).
The prices of, and rates for, payable services rendered to population increased by 0.5% in May 2008, among them the hotel service went up by 6.0%, and health care service went up by 1.2%.
