NaftoGaz Proposes to Develop Black Sea Shelf with Gazprom
OREANDA-NEWS. July 08, 2008. NJSC NaftoGaz of Ukraine Oleh Dubyna considers conclusion of an agreement with the Russian Gazprom on joint development of the Black Sea shelf to be expedient, Dubyna told an interview to the Ukrainian newspaper "Zerkalo Nedeli".
He is convinced that the agreement should be concluded under the stipulation that the Ukrainian party has an access to development of Russian gas fields. "I would propose to conclude a contract on joint development of the Ukrainian Black Sea shelf with Gazprom as well as an agreement on joint gas field production on the territory of Russia. We stay with them there and they are with us here," Dubyna said. At the same time, he offers to give Gazprom the oil from the Black Sea shelf in exchange for gas.
"Most likely, they will be interested in oil. We are ready to develop Ukrainian fields on the shelf and give them oil in exchange for gas, which is more interesting for us, as all oil in Ukraine is commercial at present. While producing oil not knowing exactly the place of its refinery, being at the same time imposed heavy duties in case you want to export it - is expensive business," Dubyna considers.
