Turkmenistan and Hungary Lay Foundation of Long-Term Co-operation
OREANDA-NEWS. July 9, 2008. A large government delegation led by Prime Minister of the Republic of Hungary Ferenc Gyurcsany visits Ashgabat.
During the talks the officials of the Government of Turkmenistan and the members of the Hungarian delegation exchanged views on the current condition and prospects of Turkmen-Hungarian co-operation successfully maintained on the bilateral basis as well as in the framework of the large-scale collaboration with the European Union established in recent years. Noting intense interest in establishing full-scale co-operation with Turkmenistan, which enjoyed the reputation of a very promising and dependable partner worldwide the guest informed of their willingness to collaborate actively in the projects initiated by the Turkmen leader throughout the country.
The fuel and energy sector was specified as a major field of co-operation that with due regard to Turkmenistan’s profound energy potential and Hungary’s needs in Turkmen natural gas created incentives for successful partnership. In general the economic sphere was viewed as very promising for partnership. In particular, negotiating the opportunities of Hungarian companies’ collaboration in the investment projects the guest emphasized that the legal and the currency reforms stipulating for the substantial benefits for foreign business fostered implementation of these projects.
The sides emphasized that high reciprocal interest in maintaining traditional partnership provided the vast opportunities for developing full-scale co-operation in such important spheres as agriculture, trade, construction industry, education, transport, tourism that Turkmenistan attached paramount importance to. In this regard the sides agreed to establish the closer contacts that would be promoted by regular exchange of visits at different levels and conducting various exhibitions, economic and business forums.
