BCR Received New Chief Executive Officer
OREANDA-NEWS. On July 02, 2008 Dominic Bruynseels, Ex- Director at Barclays bank, assumed officialy Tuesday the function of Chief Executive Officer of Romanian Commercial Bank, replacing Mr. Manfred Wimmer, reported the press-centre of BCR.
Dominic Bruynseels has joined BCR in May 2008, after a 27-year career with Barclays Bank. Most recently, he worked as Senior Executive Director of Barclays Global Retail and Commercial Banking Emerging Markets division. From Mai – June 2008 Bruynseels was advisor of the Board of BCR.
From 1997-1999, Mr. Bruynseels served as Finance Director for Barclays’ Africa, Caribbean, Middle East and Latin American business. In 1999 became Chief Executive Officer of Barclays Africa and Middle East, responsible for the 12 operations across the region. From 2005-2007 he played a leadership role in the acquisition and intergation into Barclays of Asba, the leading South African Bank, serving of both the Absa Executive Committee and Board.
Bruynseels is 48 years old, is bachelor of Mediaeval History at Durham University, obtained MBA at Henley University.
Former Chief Executive Officer of BCR, Mr. Manfred Wimmer, will return to the Erste Bank headquarters in the second half of 2008, in order to take up a senior position within the Group. Wimmer was appointed as temporary chief executive officer of the bank in December, 2007, replacing Mr. Nicolae Danila, who has managed this function for 7 years.
