OREANDA-NEWS. On July 02, 2008 President Victor Yushchenko gathered a consultative meeting dedicated to reestablishing economic stability in Ukraine, reported the Official website www.president.gov.ua.

The participants of the meeting were Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, Verkhovna Rada Speaker Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Minister for Economics Bohdan Danylyshyn, Minister of Finance Viktor Pynzenyk, National Bank Head Volodymyr Stelmakh, other officials.

Opening the meeting President expressed concerns that National Bank and the Government have failed to find compromise on a plan of economic development for our country for 2008, despite the agreement to do so of June 14. It is unacceptable according to him that the Government prepares alterations to the budget using one economic scenario and the National Bank makes changes to monetary and currency policy in accordance with the other.

National Bank’s Head reaffirmed his position that he is ready to accept economic indices proposed by the Government only if previously declared budgetary expenses stay intact. On the other hand, if they are increased by nearly 30 billion hryvnyas, as the Government proposes now, the National Bank will refuse to agree with some indices such as producer and consumer prices, GDP, etc.

Representatives of the Government from their part informed that they would continue to persist on the indices, they have provided during Cabinet’s last meeting.
