OREANDA-NEWS. July 4, 2008. The teams of Ural, Siberian and Central regions are taking part in the competition. Russia’s nuclear power plants are represented by a team of Rosenergoatom Concern.

Almost 300 sportsmen have qualified for the finals. Four teams will fight for the title of the best in the nuclear industry. They will contend in futsal, street-ball, volleyball, beach volleyball, tennis, pong pong, badminton, swimming, field and track athletics, darts and weight-lifting. There will be also individual contests.

The chairman of the Russian Physical Culture and Sports Society “Atom-Sport” Valentin Ilyin is sure that this year’s Atomiad will show the best results ever. He points out that such spartakiads are becoming increasingly popular in the sector.

The events will last till July 6.
