German Low-Cost Airline to Open Flights to Kyiv
OREANDA-NEWS. July 01, 2008. The German-based Germanwings low-cost airline is planning to open cheap flights to Kyiv in the autumn of 2008. "We are planning to offer our passengers cheap flights from Berlin to Kyiv and Cologne to Kyiv in October this year," Andreas Engel, a spokesman for Germanwings, told.
The airline's leadership is currently awaiting a respective permit from the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine, Engel said. If the Ukrainian bodies take a positive decision, the German company will become the first low-cost airline on the international aviation market of Ukraine.
Engel said that prices for flights from Germany to Ukraine would start with EUR 19. "If a passenger buys a ticket on the Internet two months ahead of the flight under certain conditions, he or she can really fly only for EUR 19, including airport fees. If a single ticket is bought several days before the flight, its price will amount to EUR 60-70," Engel said.
Germanwings was founded in 2002 and is a subsidiary of the German-based Lufthansa.
