OREANDA-NEWS. On 03 July 2008 was announced, that the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Chief Godswill Akpabio saluted the management of UC RUSAL ALSCON on behalf of the federal government for the exceptional record that the company has demonstrated in production and export of aluminium ingots as well as its substantial investment in the development of infrastructure in the neighbouring communities.

During his visit to ALSCON plant this Monday the governor of Akwa Ibom State, Chief Godswill Akpabio noted the significant progress that the smelter has made in 16 months after UC RUSAL took over the facility. Completing his tour around the facilities Governor Akpabio assured the management of the company of the Federal Government’s support as it ramps up production in the coming months.

“I bring you a message of felicitation from the President, His Excellency, President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua congratulating (you) on this roll-out and assuring you of the Federal Government’s continued support and the support and co-operation of the communities in Akwa Ibom State and Nigerians in general,” he said.

In his welcome address for, UC RUSAL ALSCON Managing Director Mr. Andrey Partyansky briefed the governor and members of the state executive council about the plant’s operational achievements and plans to increase production in the coming months. The plant’s management also pointed out that the company’s investments in the local infrastructure and social developments continue to be an integral part of UC RUSAL’s strategy in the country.
