OREANDA-NEWS. July 2, 2008. Today the “North-West Timber Company” and the succession line of Antoine de Saint Exupery (Mr. Olivier D’Agay from Paris, France) signed the agreement on the joint realization of noncommercial project for popularization of ecological knowledge in Russia

The ceremony took place in the French Institute in St. Petersburg. The agreement was signed by the Deputy General Director for Ecology of the NWTC Yury Murashko and the business manager of the heirs’ family of Antoine de Saint Exupery, the grandnephew of the writer Mr. Olivier D’Agay.

In accordance with the agreement, the NWTC received the right to use pictures and citations from the beautiful fairytale by Exupery on the exercise-book covers, drawing-albums, drawing-folders and notebooks. Within the framework of the above agreement with the rights holder, the NWTC as the only manufacturer of TCF-paper received the right to use the specially designed mark on the NWTC’s products -- “The Little Prince – We are responsible for our planet”. The sign will be accompanied by the text confirming ecological cleanness of the product, in particular the absence of chlorine. The text will contain the reference to the site “Ecology with the Little Prince” developed by the Russian Representation of the heirs’ family of Antoine de Saint Exupery with the support of “Greenpeace”. This Internet resource explains the danger of using chlorine in cellulose bleaching for the environment.

The NWTC will help in realization of a range of noncommercial publishing projects of the heirs’ family of Antoine de Saint Exupery. Thus, we provided TCF- offset paper produced by the Neman Pulp-and-Paper Mill for publication of “The Little Prince” in the Altaic language for the Altaian republic.

The head of Trade Representation of France in St. Petersburg Martin Bonnichon emphasized that realization of such projects is important for the Russian-French relations development, in particular when France has become the Chairperson of the EU. “Culture and cultural interaction help the politicians all the time”, Mr. Bonnichon said.

The serial “The Little Prince” will help to bring up our children in the best traditions of the world literature heritage. “Our company would like to inoculate the interest in classic. In addition to “The Little Prince” we produce drawing albums with covers presenting reproductions of the world art masterpieces of Edgar Degas, Pierre Ogust Renuar, Claude Monet and others”, Yury Murashko said.

According to the results of 2007 the NWTC is one of the twenty largest manufacturers in the Russian pulp and paper industry. The North-West Timber Company is:
- 15-17th place in Russia in cellulose production,
- 8th place in Russia in paper production of all types,
- 3rd place in Russia in offset and office paper production,
- 1st place in Russia in exercise-book production.
