German-Ukrainian Project on Airport Reconstruction Supported
OREANDA-NEWS. On June 28, 2008 a joint German-Ukrainian project on the Kharkiv Airport reconstruction (city of Kharkiv, East Ukraine) was adopted by the City-Planning Council, Chief Architect of the City Council Serhiy Chechelnytskyi informed.
According to him, the project elaborated by the LLC Arсstone (Ukraine) and the Airport Researche Center (Germany) was positively estimated on the whole, except for small remarks with which designers agreed and promised to remove them.
The plan envisages construction of a modern three-storied building with a carrying capacity of 650 passengers an hour and construction of the airport land side. On this land side a car park for 307 cars will be constructed, as well as parking places for buses and route buses.
The facility reconstruction is planned to be completed by 2012, since the airport and its high carrying capacity is one of the key aspects in the city's preparation to holding the European Football Championship. The project implementation provides for capital investments to the amount of USD 174 million, including USD 118,9 million at the expense of the investor, and USD 55,1 million - at the expense of the state program on development of airports in Ukraine.
