OREANDA-NEWS. June 30, 2008.  The awarding ceremony of “Miss Atom 2008” internet beauty contest took place in the framework of the 1st International Forum ATOMCON 2008 in Moscow on June 25.

The contest is conducted by Nuclear.Ru among female employees of nuclear companies and organizations of Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Belarus. The general sponsor of Miss Atom 2008 was Atomenergoprom OJSC. Among the other sponsors were Kazatomprom, Atompromresursy, Atomexpo, Rosatomstroy, SBCD Expo. 

Over 340 girls from over 60 companies and organizations took part in this year’s contest. Yulia Nagayeva from TVEL received most of the votes. Asel Utibayeva from Kazatomprom was the second, Tatiana Vdovina from Start PA – the third.

Excerpts from speeches delivered at the awarding ceremony:

Deputy Director of Atomenergoprom OJSC D.Tkebuchava: “Today, our nuclear industry is experiencing a real “renaissance.” We have very big projects and such beautiful girls help in our hard cause. They are our face and you see that our face is beautiful. We will do all we can to earn respect for our industry so that people respect and value it just like they respect and value women.”

Vice President of Kazatomprom S.Yashin: “I have always known that there are lots of beautiful girls in our industry and today’s ceremony has proved that. But I also know that our industry and our employees – both men and women — are experiencing crucial times. In order to break through we need knowledge. Our girls do have it. So, I would like to congratulate you and wish you all the best!”

Vice President of TVEL OJSC K.Sokolov: “Our industry is showing a modern face – the image of a dynamically developing system. Our girls are shaping this image together with us, men. And it is a great honor for us, men, to work with so beautiful women. I wish you love, happiness, health and victories in whatever you do!”

Director General of Atomexpo OJSC N.Doronin: “Our profession likes beautiful forms and gracious lines and we are happy that we have such a contest. Thank you for this pleasure!”

Secretary of the Central Committee of the Russian Trade Union of Nuclear Workers A.Vanichkin: “Each year the contest is enlarging its geography. I think that in the future the contest will go beyond the CIS. Our colleagues from the World Council of Nuclear Workers have already shown interest in our contest. I would like to congratulate the winners of the contest and wish them health, happiness and success for the benefit of our industry!”

Chairman of the Board of Directors of Atompromresursy A.Cherkasenko: “There are lots of secrets in our industry but the fact that we have lots of beautiful girls is hardly a secret. The five-year history of the contest, the professional education, career growth, achievements and victories our its participants have shown that the nuclear industry of Russia and the CIS are in not only strong but also beautiful hands!”

Director General of Nuclear.ru I.Platonov: “One of the key achievements of the contest is that it has become a kind of community. The girls continue to contact with one another and this is great.”

Results of "Miss Atom 2008" beauty contest have been summed up

The result of the 5th international internet beauty contest "Miss Atom 2008" were summed up on Mar 7 2007 at 4:00 PM (http://miss2008.nuclear.ru).

344 girls from Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Belarus took part in the contest organized by Nuclear.ru information portal.

Yulia Nagayeva from TVEL OJSC (Moscow) has been proclaimed Miss Atom 2008 and awarded VIP-tour of Italy for two persons.

Asel Utibayeva from Kazatomprom (Almaty, Kazakhstan) has won the second prize and has got bank card.

Tatiana Vdovina from NIKIRET (branch of START, Zarechny) has won the third place and has been granted a three-year admission certificate to perfume and cosmetics shops network.

International internet beauty contest “Miss Atom” has been conducted each year since 2004. It is a unique socially integrated project. All female employees of nuclear companies and organizations of Russia and the post-Soviet republics as well as students of specialized universities can take part in the contest. 297 girls from Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan participated in the event in 2007.
