OREANDA-NEWS. June 30, 2008.  The richly illustrated book prepared for publication by the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH) was released in the separate volumes in the Turkmen, Russian and English languages. It drew a wide response in our country and abroad, aroused intense interest among the political, business and scientific circles in different countries worldwide for whom Turkmenistan – a major participant of the diplomatic activity in the region, a long-term and dependable business partner, the state, whose immense resources including those of tourism industry provide the vast opportunities for potential co-operation and mutually advantageous investments. Therefore, the book Elected and Empowered by the People presenting the leader of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and his policy aimed at further strengthening Turkmenistan’s independence, enhancing its international prestige and economic wellbeing to the readership was an overwhelming success and translated and republished in the Turkish language.

The book contains the Turkmen leader’s biographical data, his historic statement at the XIX Halk Maslakhaty and the essay that gave the name to the book subtitled the Strokes to the Political Portrait of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Three parts highlight the priorities of the Turkmen leader’s policy underlying the policy of new Revival and provide the detailed description of the large-scale development programmes initiated by Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The first part contains the materials about the President’s reforms in the social sphere, education, science, healthcare and the leading sectors of national economy. The second part reproduces the foreign policy events of 2007 when the new leader of Turkmenistan won worldwide recognition as a prudent politician upholding steadfast the national interests and taking the effective steps to strengthen peace and stability in the region. The third part contains the President’s speeches, articles, statements and interviews that enlarge the readers’ knowledge of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov’s personality, political views and the trends of his reforms.
