Russia Wants More Moldovan Wine
OREANDA-NEWS. June 27, 2008. Russia counts on an augmentation of the Moldovan wine deliveries, stated Premier Vladimir Putin during the meeting with his Moldovan counterpart, Zinaida Grecianii at the end of last week, reported the press-centre of Moldova-vin.
According to the Russian press, in the closest time, Rospotrebnadzor is to inspect 22 Moldovan wine companies more with a view to resume exports to Russia. As a result, the number of exporters of wine products on the Russian market is to increase up to 50, the Moscow press writes.
Moldovan wines are popular in Russia. The price and quality of the production corresponds to the international standards and the consumers appreciated this, stated Russian premier.
At the same time, Putin talked about a potential increase of the agricultural and phyto-technical products to the Russian market. The supplies of Moldovan wines to the Russian market were resumed at the end of 2007, after Rospotrebnadzor lifted the embargo on the exports introduced in March 2006.
According to the Moldova-Vin Agroindustrial Agency, the Moldovan exports of spirits increased by 2,5 times in January-April 2008, and amounted to 63 mln 221,5 thousand USD.
During the same period, the exports to the CIS market, which is further the main market for the Moldovan products, reached the amount of 54 mln 504,6 thousand USD, by 2,9 times more against the same period of last year.
The exports to Russia amounted to 18 mln 633,2 thousand USD against 0,5 thousand USD, a quantity supplied a year ago.
Data of the National Bureau of Statistics show that in five months of 2008, the wine production amounted to 742,0 mln lei, by 67,4% more against the similar period of the previous year, while the distilled drinks export increased by 50,6% up to 227,5 mln lei.
