Comstar Participated at “Transport Networks 2008” Conference
OREANDA-NEWS. On 26 June 2008 was announced, that Comstar participated in international conference “Trunk, Transport Telecom Networks 2008”. The conference took place on June 25-26, 2008.
The conference gathered together recognized specialists in the sphere of transport data transmission networks, delegates to the conference are representatives of equipment manufacturers, system integrators. At the conference they discussed issues related to construction and development of trunk, transport telecom networks, the market trends, new technologies and modernization of the current communication channels.
Victor Belov, Deputy General Director, Technical Director, "Comstar-Direct", a member of COMSTAR-UTS group, spoke on the subject of “Transit Internet-network for end-user customers” within the frames of session “Capabilities of transport telecommunication networks”. COMSTAR-Direct is a very experienced company in terms of construction and maintenance of transport telecom networks. COMSTAR-Direct is not only the leading operator on the market of broadband Internet access but also one of the largest transit Internet-providers of Russia. Transit network of COMSTAR-Direct is connected to the most significant traffic exchange points of Europe and USA: NetNod (Stockholm), DE-CIX (Frankfurt), AMS-IX, NL-IX (Amsterdam), LINX (London), NYIIX (New York), Equinix (Ashburn). Network characteristics: presence of direct connectivity to more than 500 networks in Europe and USA, to the largest Tier1 operators – Verizon, Level3, Sprint, Global Crossing, Telia, Cogent, NTT/Verio, Deutche Telecom, BT, Interoute and others, and also to the largest Russian operators. For telecom operators COMSTAR-Direct offers services of full transit to global Internet network with the protected connection.
In conclusion V. Belov told about the new technologies used in operator’s network. Starting from the year 2008 COMSTAR-UTS network fully supports IPv6 at all transit nodes, at the moment IPv6-transit services are provided to operators in a test mode.
Participants of the conference exchanged their views in respect of such up-to-date issues as: main investment trends of telecom operators in construction and modernization of telecommunication networks; achievements in the sphere of transport technologies, standards and systems used in networks deployment in order to provide new services, operating expenses reduction, reliability augmentation and system effectiveness; advantages of the new transport technologies and problems related to their implementation.
