Rosenergoatom Concern Presents Its Capacities at ATOMCON 2008
OREANDA-NEWS. June 25, 2008. Rosenergoatom Concern is taking part in the 1st International Forum ATOMCON 2008, which has set off at Expocenter, Moscow, June 25.
While opening the forum, Director General of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation Sergey Kiriyenko said that today nuclear power industry is a powerful source of innovative technologies, which help other industries to develop.
“As a country that has launched the world’s first nuclear power plant, Russia is going to further develop and enhance its innovative capacities in the field of civil nuclear technologies and to contribute to the enlargement of the peaceful use of nuclear energy in the world in close compliance with the nonproliferation regime,” Kiriyenko said.
Rosenergoatom Concern presented its achievements in the field of nuclear and radiation safety, environment protection and efficiency enhancement as well as innovative technologies, particularly, the NPP-2006 project: WWER-1200, a reactor with enhanced capacity (by 15% to 1,200MW), increased output (20%) and prolonged service life (67%).
“This forum is a unique event, an excellent opportunity for Rosenergoatom Concern to establish specific contacts. When preparing for such events one begins to review his actions and programs. This forum provides good publicity for our latest achievements,” says the head of the International Activities Department of Rosenergoatom Concern Anatoly Kirichenko.
