OREANDA-NEWS. June 24, 2008. Tatneft Company participated in the International Investment Conference, held at Korston Hotel in Kazan from June 10 to 11. The conference was organized by the Republic of Tatarstan jointly with the Islamic Development Bank (IDB).

The Islamic Development Bank was represented at the forum by major companies, banks and investment funds from more than 19 countries in the Persian Gulf, Middle East and the countries participating in the Organization of the Islamic Conference.

The Forum was opened by M.Sh. Shaimiev, President of the Republic of Tatarstan, and by Dr. Ahmad Muhammad Ali, the IDB President. The greetings to the participants of the conference were sounded on behalf of Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, and Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, Secretary General of OIC at the opening ceremony.
 
Presentation of industrial and economic potential of Tatarstan was arranged under the leadership of Rustam Minnikhanov, Prime Minister of the Republic.

Tatneft Company, or "Company № 1 in the Republic of Tatarstan" by the words of the Premier, was presented at the conference by Shafagat Takhautdinov, General Director of OAO Tatneft. Mr. Takhautdinov described in his report major activities of the Company, its prospects for development, investment projects, including development of extra viscous (bituminous) oil deposits in Tatarstan, construction refineries and petrochemical plants in Nizhnekamsk, modernization and establishment of new production lines at OAO Nizhnekamskshina Company, etc.
 
Experts of OAO Tatneft participated in targeted meetings covering a wide range of innovative and trade/economic cooperation. The exhibition named "The investment potential of the Republic of Tatarstan" was held in the framework of the Forum. The exhibition stand of OAO Tatneft presented the Company's strategic projects, which aroused great interest among the representatives of foreign investment companies.

In general, the participants of the Forum highly appraised the potential of Tatarstan, expressing confidence that such business contacts contribute to the economic development and further strengthening of the cooperation between Russia and the Islamic countries in the whole world.
