Chemical Production in Azerbaijan Grew by 70% for Jan-May 2008
OREANDA-NEWS. June 19, 2008. For Jan-May 2008 Azerbaijan was observed growth in chemical production against decline in 2007.
The State Statistics Committee has informed that for the last five months of 2008 country’s manufacture of chemical products rose 69.7% against the 2007 same term figure and production of rubber and plastics manufacture reduced by 22.3%.
Passed five months’ manufacture of nitrogen reached 5.5 million cu m (+31.1%), liquid caustic soda 11,000 tons (2.1 fold), propylene 13,900 tons (+80.3%), polyethylene 24,900 tons (+77.8%), isopropylene alcohol 8,200 tons (+68%), varnish-and-paint products 1,013 tons (+19.6%), chloric acid 1,800 tons (2.6 fold).
Total rubber and plastics output included 2.6 tons (-73.2%), articles from hard polyethylene 1,263 tons (+43.8%), 346.4 tons (+62.9% fold) of plastic window and door frames, artificial coverings from cellulose or protein 165.6 tons (-60.4%), 1 mm monosaps from plastics, profiles and shanks 312.3 tons (-76.7%).
As of June 1, 2008, cost of ready chemical products at enterprises’ warehouses declined by AZN 34,500 to AZN 35.8 million or 15.7% of overall balance of ready industrial products.
Overall decline of domestic chemical output that was observed last year was linked with problems of Azerkimya state-run chemical company, which was forced to halt manufacture because tax services blocked its accounts and rise in prices for raw materials. Due to the measures taken by the government production was resumed but its rate was lost.
