Kazakhstan Increased Volume of Communication Services in 2008
OREANDA-NEWS. June 19, 2008. In January-May 2008, communication companies of Kazakhstan provided services in the amount of KZT 163,9 billion (current 120,67/\\$1), that is 26,2% greater in comparison to the same period of the previous year.
For the mentioned period services in the amount of KZT 67,4 billion were provided to population that is 27% greater comparing with the same period of 2007.
In structure of revenues from telecommunication services in the reporting period, mobile communication share made 52,7% (in comparison to January –May 2007, mobile communication services volume increased by 26,9%).
In January-May 2008, in the total revenues volume of communication companies, revenues from the sale of services to population made 41,1%, including 58,5% from mobile communication, 18% from long distance domestic and international communication, 10,3% from local communication, 13% from other types of services.
According to the agency for statistics such factors as the increase of subscriber base, the provision of new products, and the decrease of tariff plans for telecommunication services contributed to the intensive development of telecommunications in the reporting period.
At the present time telecommunication and communication services are mainly provided by JSC Kazakhtelecom and the governmental company JSC Kazpost.
Today there are five mobile operators in the republic including three operators providing services in GSM standard. Population of Kazakhstan exceeds 15,6 million people.
