Azerbaijan to Join to Convention for Railway Carriages
OREANDA-NEWS. June 18, 2008. Today Azerbaijan is not fully ready to implement international liabilities on railway carriages.
Ministry of Transport Head of Machinery Javid Najafov said at present Azerbaijan is to realize an own transit potential.
“The country is participating in Intergovernmental Organisation for International Carriage by Rail – OTIF, but our major target is to develop TRACECA and Baku-Tbilisi-Kars transport corridors. As a result, Azerbaijan will be ready to join to International Convention for Railway Carriages after it puts into operation Baku-Tbilisi-Kars,” J.Najafov said.
At present Azerbaijan is studying statements of the Convention and WTO requirements.
Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway with annual turnover up to 30 million tons will start functioning in 2009/2010.
