OREANDA-NEWS. June 18, 2008. Dashoguz silk producers achieved the high labour results. They produced over 1,040 tons of silkworm cocoons for textile industry of Turkmenistan.

The high achievements gained by the Dashoguz silk producers is the natural result of agricultural workers’ diligence and mastery as well as the large-scale reforms implemented in the country to develop one of the leading sectors of Turkmen economy. An effect from introducing the high-quality varieties of silkworm grown in the country and abroad in industry becomes more and more obvious in the region with every passing year. In recent years the mulberry plantations expanded up to 2,500 hectares. Therefore, silk production that brings substantial income to agricultural workers is developed in most etraps in the Dashoguz Velayat. The complex programme on improvement of the social and living conditions in rural areas is a guarantee of an upsurge in silk production in Turkmenistan.
