Sokol Will Undergo Redevelopment
OREANDA-NEWS. On 18 June 2008 was announced, that the city authorities of Moscow intend to build a high-rise complex in the place of 15 low-rise dwelling houses in the northern part of the Russian capital.
“New Ring of Moscow program will be embodied within the reconstruction of block 51 in Sokol township. So, a multistorey high-rise complex with the area of 69,000 sq m is planned to be built in the place of 15 low-rise dilapidated dwelling houses with the total area of more than 29,000 sq m,” Vitaly Aksyonov, head of Sokol township, said.
According to the official, new dwelling houses will be also erected in block 51, including a 24-storey building where the residents of the houses to be demolished will be moved into.
“We stipulate also the construction of a pedestrian bridge over the line to Riga of Moscow Railways that is to link Sokol township and the neighboring township Voykovsky within the reconstruction of block 51,” Mr Aksyonov added.
Besides, the garages for 996 parking spaces will be demolished in the block. It is planned to build a 7-level park and ride facility for 650 parking spaces as well as a garage complex with the total capacity of 500 vehicles instead of them.
