Moscow Will Increase Number of Educational Institutions
OREANDA-NEWS. On 11 June 2008 was announced, that the city authorities of Moscow are to have 638 kindergartens and 180 schools built in the Russian capital by 2012.
“We are currently building 100 kindergartens and approximately 30-40 school per year and this policy will be continued. In total, 638 kindergartens and 180 schools are planned to be built by 2012,” Konstantin Korolevsky, first deputy head of the department of city-planning policy, development and reconstruction of Moscow, said at a live program on Ekho Moskvy radio station on June 7.
It is stipulated by the updated General Plan of Moscow.
The construction of kindergartens and schools is being carried out at the expense of the city budget. But investment companies and even physical bodies make the construction complex of Moscow offers to invest such constructions more frequent, the official noted.
The first deputy head of the department added that Moscow’s construction policy had a marked social character.
“80 million sq m of housing have been built in the past 20 years that is one third of the whole housing stock [of Moscow],” Mr Korolevsky emphasized.
“We launch the program of construction of low-rise buildings for large families. We are to have 193 cottages built next year within Moscow, everyone will have the area,” the official reminded. According to him, the cottages will be erected in compliance with the custom designs in four areas of Moscow including the districts Butovo and Maryino.
