OREANDA-NEWS. On June 05, 2008 to get acquainted with the operations of Icelandic investors in Latvia, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Iceland Geir Haarde visited NORVIK BANKA – Icelandic–Latvian enterprise, reported the press-centre of NORVIK BANKA.

The head of Iceland’s government visited Riga during the Summit of the Council of the Baltic Sea States heads of government.

During his visit, the Prime Minister of Iceland met with representative of the Bank’s shareholders and Chairman of the Bank’s Council Jon Helgi Gudmundsson, who explained the operations of the NORVIK Group in Latvia. While Member of the Bank's Board Valentina Keisa presented to the honourable guest the key financial indicators of the NORVIK BANKA.

The Prime Minister of Iceland visited Latvia during the 7th Summit of the Council of the Baltic Sea States heads of government, held in Riga on 3-4 June. The said event gathered at a table prime ministers from 11 countries (Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Finland, Germany, and Sweden) and a representative from the European Commission to decide on the future of the region and agree on reform in the Council of the Baltic Sea States.

After the visit the Prime Minister went to see other enterprises owned by Icelandic entrepreneurs - store of construction materials “Depo” and woodworking factory “Vika Wood”.
