Rambler Becomes Primary Sponsor of First YAPC in Russia
OREANDA-NEWS. On 09 June 2008 was announced, that Rambler becomes primary sponsor of the first YAPC in Russia.
YAPC (Yet Another Perl Conference) is an annual technical conference for Perl language programmers, which has been held since 1999 all over the world. Conferences are held in various regions; thus far there have been YAPC:NA (North America), YAPC: Asia, and YAPC: Europe.
This year on May 17-18 a group of enthusiasts, including Rambler programmers, opened the first Russian YAPC branch, YAPC: Russia. Rambler was the primary sponsor of the first Russian conference celebrating the Perl programming language.
The conference attracted about 100 participants from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don, Kiev, and even Copenhagen, who listened to 17 full-length presentations and10 short presentations, and attended master classes. Representatives from field leaders such as: Agava, Rambler, Yandex, Best Practical, and IN-LINE Tech, made presentations.
The event was organized by http://moscow.pm.org the Moscow.pm group, which is made up of Perl programmers and holds regular meetings and workshops. Rambler has been a sponsor of Moscow.pm since it was founded, and regularly helps with organizing events.
