OREANDA-NEWS. On 06 June 2008 was announced, that the Church of the Birth of Saint John the Baptist in Moscow is to be investigated and restored in 2008-2009.

“The specialists are to investigate and survey the condition of the foundations, walls and arches of the church and work out the construction documents on reinforcing and waterproofing the foundations including the catchment and restoration of the floors, carrying out the full-scale investigation of the paintings and mosaic dйcor of the walls and arches,” a source from Moscow City Hall said.

According to the source, the foundations, floors, paintings and mosaic dйcor of the walls and arched will be restored in the church. All the work will be done out of the funds from the city budget of Moscow.

The Church of the Birth of Saint John the Baptist on 2, Malyy Predtechensky Side Street was built in 1693, the belfry was erected in 1810. It is an object of the cultural heritage, a monument with the federal status possessed by the city.
