Foreign Investor Meets with PM of Latvia
OREANDA-NEWS. On June 06, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., in the Green Hall of the Cabinet of Ministers (2nd floor of the Cabinet of Ministers), the 12th high level meeting of the Government of the Republic of Latvia and the Foreign Investor Council in Latvia (FICIL) will take place. A video and photo opportunity is planned at the beginning of the meeting at 9 a.m., reported the Official website www.mk.gov.lv.
After the meeting at 12:30 p.m., a joint press conference of Ivars Godmanis and Dr Gunter Dunkel is scheduled (in the Press Conference Room, the Cabinet of Ministers, 3rd floor).
In the opening of the event, Ivars Godmanis, Prime Minister of the Republic of Latvia, and Dr Gunter Dunkel, Deputy Chairman of the Managing Board of the Norddeutsche Landesbank Girozentrale, will deliver their speeches.
In the first part of the meeting of the Latvian Government and FICIL, Kaspars Gerhards, Minister for Economics of the Republic of Latvia, will present information about the development of economic and business environment in Latvia. The former governor of the Swedish Central Bank Bengt Dennis will talk about challenges concerning the economic policy of Latvia. The presentation will be followed by a discussion. In the second part, Andris Laucins, Chairman of the Board of FICIL and partner of the Ernst & Young Baltic, will present a report on views of foreign investors in Latvia with regard to sustainable economic development. In the final part of the meeting, a joint communique will be adopted.
In the meeting, the Foreign Investor Council in Latvia will be represented by more than 50 high-ranking managers of the member companies such as Baltic Car Import, BITE, Cemex, Dalkia Latvia, Ernst & Young Baltic, Fazer Group, GE Money, Hansabanka, Indtec Baltic Coal, Knauf, Latvijas Biznesa banka, Latvija Statoil, Linstow, Narvesen Baltija, Neste Latvija, NCH Advisors, DnB NORD Banka, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Rimi Baltic, Scandinavian Tobacco, SEB Unibanka, Stora Enso, Saint Gobain, Stockholm School of Economics in Riga, TeliaSonera, VAE Riga, Volvo Truck Latvia, as well as heads of seven foreign chambers of commerce in Latvia, who represent the USA, Denmark, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Finland, Germany and Sweden.
