Stroytransgaz Completes Underwater Passage for ESPO
OREANDA-NEWS. June 5, 2008. Stroytransgaz has completed construction of the main line of a large underwater crossing of the Gila River along the Mogot-Tynda section of the Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean main oil pipeline.
The length of the underwater crossing – built using traditional trench-digging methods – is 1,358 meters; the diameter of the pipe – 1,220 millimeters. When the welding joints of the assembled section of the oil pipeline were tested using NDT, no defects were brought to light.
Stroytransgaz signed a contract for construction of the 87-kilometer Mogot-Tynda section at the end of 2007. This section is located along the ESPO route between the 2,522th-kilometer mark and the 2,620th-kilometer mark. At this time, welding has been carried out along 56 kilometers of the line part of the oil pipeline and a large portion has already been laid into the trench and covered with earth.
