IBRD Extends USD 140 mln for Development of Infrastructure in Ukraine
OREANDA-NEWS. On May 30, 2008 The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and the Housing and Utilities Complex Ministry of Ukraine have signed an agreement on a loan of USD 140 million for implementation of the project for the development of municipal infrastructure, Minister Oleksiy Kucherenko said in the course of the ministry board meeting.
In his words, the main objective of the project is to provide to municipal enterprises assistance in order to guarantee their stable work, and improve environmental situation.
In keeping with the project, USD 35,5 million will be granted to Odesa for implementation of two projects - modernization of technological equipment in the field of water supply and sewage services, and solid waste treatment. USD 15 million will be channeled for modernization of technological equipment of Chernihiv.
Ivano-Frankivsk will receive USD 7,17 million for modernization of water supply and sewage services.
Beside that, USD 78,12 million is envisaged for implementation of a number of small-scale energy saving investment projects.
Under the project, the loan will be provided for 17 years with a five-year lax period.
