DTEK Looks for New Fuel Sources
OREANDA-NEWS. May 30, 2008. Within the confines of its development strategy "Donbass Fuel-Energy Company" is interested in diversification of fuel sources for thermal generation in Ukraine including purchasing of perspective coal companies outside Ukraine including Russia, reported the press-centre of SCM.
The mines extracting steam coals are of priority for the Company. In addition, to ensure efficient work of the whole production chain of DTEK it is important to have all coal assets as close as possible to the energy generating facilities in the eastern Ukraine.
At present DTEK is considering a possibility to acquire Chikh Mine (Rostov Oblast, Russia). Its ultimate steam coal reserves amount to approximately 50 million tons.
Short profile of the Company:
"Donbass Fuel-Energy Company" (DTEK) is the first private vertically-integrated power company of Ukraine. It is under umbrella of the financial and industrial group "System Capital Management" (SCM).
DTEK Companies (Pavlogradugol OJSC and "Komsomolets Donbassa" Mine) form an efficient coal mining and enrichment chain (5 coal enrichment facilities) as well as energy generation (Vostokenergo Ltd.) and distribution chain ("Service Invest" LLC and PES "Energougol" OJSC).
"DTEK" holds the leading positions in fuel and energy complex of Ukraine. Upon the results of 2007 the Company' share in the coal mining industry of Ukraine amounted to 20,9%, in thermal generation - 27% and energy distribution – 5,4%.
