Health and Fitness Centre for Disabled People Will Be Put Up in Moscow
OREANDA-NEWS. On 28 May 2008 was announced, that a health and fitness centre for physically challenged people is to be put up in the area of Molniya stadium, north Moscow, by the end of 2009.
“The health and fitness centre will contain a five-lane swimming pool equipped for the disabled and handicapped population groups,” a press service of the prefecture of the northern administrative district of Moscow said.
The main entrance will be equipped with a ramp, the shower cubicles, bathroom units and lockers rooms will have no thresholds, a minimum width of corridors will equal 1.8 metre.
The physically challenged people will go through the preparatory training on the input tracks of the swimming pool, there will also be a lift for taking the swimmers out of the water in the centre.
According to the press service, another health and fitness centre with an ice-skating rink will be built in the stadium area by 2010. The structure with the total area of about 2,000 square metres will have a 30x61m ice-skating rink, a gym and locker rooms with shower cubicles as well as skate hire.
