OREANDA-NEWS. May 26, 2008. The awards presentation ceremony held by “The Asian Banker” magazine took place in Bangkok (Thailand), reported the press-centre of AsiaUniversalBank.

This year the international business publication has put Central Asia including the Kyrgyz Republic on the list of annually evaluated countries for the first time. The magazine had conducted its research and had made several-round selection, and then, according to their totals, named AsiaUniversalBank “Best retail bank in the Kyrgyz Republic”.

The international judicial assembly consisted of noted analysts and experts in sphere of finance and banking, evaluated the nominees and recognized AUB “Best retail bank in the Kyrgyz Republic - 2008” for providing the best retail bank services. The judicial assembly included such world-known bankers and financiers as Mr. Philip Strause, Mr. Philippe Paillart, Mr. Varun Sabhlok, Prof. Brett King and Mr. Chris Skinner.

All nominees for such a prestigious international award must have high showing of retail services’ quality, big and successful experience in providing banking services, have transparent and scaled business model, profound market penetration, and effective service sales channels. Besides, not the least of the factors is presence of scrupulous risk management strategy, as well as of striving for high technologies and high operational standards. Also, while selecting the best bank the judicial assembly paid special attention to human resources development.

The organizers emphasize the fact that “The Asian Banker” has never awarded any nominee just for its popularity at the local market or for its marketing initiatives. The mayor of Bangkok city presented Mikhail Anatolyevich Nadel, the Chair of the Board of Directors of OJSC “AsiaUniversalBank”, with the award.

“Being the Chair of the Board of Directors of OJSC “AsiaUniversalBank”, I’d like to note, that I don’t consider this desired award a merit of the Board of Directors or the Bank Administration. Actually, the award was fairly deserved by hundreds of employees of AsiaUniversalBank, whose loyalty to the cause allowed the bank to achieve today’s status, - said M. Nadel in his speech. - Also I’d like to personally thank “The Asian Banker’s” president and editor-in-chief, Mr. Emmanuel Daniel, and his team for devoting their time to long and thorough studying of the Kyrgyz Republic, which made it possible for the country to be included in the rating of “The Asian Banker”.

The above award is the twentieth international prize received by AsiaUniversalBank over period of 6 years. Apart from this award the Bank has a long list of premiums including the titles “Bank of the Year” and “Best Corporate Government” awarded by “The Banker” and “Euromoney”, as well as “Best Emerging Market Bank”, “Best Internet Bank”, “Best Corporate/Institutional Internet Bank”, and “Best Customer Internet Bank” awarded by “Global Finance” at different times.

OJSC “AsiaUniversalBank” has been working in Kyrgyzstan more than 10 years and currently it is one of the biggest bank institutions in the Kyrgyz Republic.
