OREANDA-NEWS. May 26, 2008. The unique product supplemented the KAMAZ engine line: for special equipment producers there was started batch manufacturing of a new power unit with a built-in power takeoff attachment.

This power unit – sandwich engine – is the first Russian analog of foreign products. According to Felix Iskanderov – Deputy Engine Design Manager, now there is one engine on a vehicle instead of two ones. There are considerable economic benefits for customers who operate vehicles on the basis of KAMAZ chassis with special superstructures: “mixers”, crane installations, etc.

Besides, the new product will make it possible to improve operating characteristics of vehicles: to bring down the price of a truck and reduce fuel costs. Such engines are already produced in the development shop of the engine plant.
