OREANDA-NEWS. May 26, 2008. Russia and China give priority to their cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy, the heads of Russia and China say in their communique.

Russia and China regard cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy as one of the key priorities of their economic partnership and express satisfaction with the achievements made in this sphere and commitment to continue mutually beneficial cooperation.

On Sunday the countries signed a number of agreements, particularly, an agreement in the field of uranium enrichment.

Techsnabexport (Tenex) and China Nuclear Energy Industry Corporation (CNEIC) signed an agreement on the basic terms of contracts for technical support of the construction of new units of the gas centrifuge uranium enrichment plant and on supply of Russian enriched uranium to China.
