Gorky Railways Plans Intermodal Transport to Airport of N. Novgorod
OREANDA-NEWS. May 20, 2008. Moscow Station will build a waiting room for plane passengers and a terminal where passengers can register and check-in their luggage and then depart for the airport by express train, whose timetable will be coordinated with departures, reported the press-centre of Russian Railways.
Strigino is located in Nizhny Novgorod, just 20 km from Moscow Station, but traffic jams mean that the journey often takes over an hour.
A working group is currently being set up to look at all the possible technical solutions and carry out a feasibility study of the project, which is expected to take 2-3 years.
Since the reconstruction of the airport is scheduled for completion at the end of 2010, the organisation of intermodal transport is particularly timely.
