OREANDA-NEWS. On May 19, 2008 Dagestan Branch of JSC “HydroOGK” put into operation a backup system from “Hewlett-Packard” company, reported the press-centre of HydroOGK.
 
The system is a complex specialized equipment which includes: a short-term storage server with several high performance HDDs united into a common redundant array of independent disks to provide failure-resistance (the array’s total capacity is about 1.4 tera-byte); this storage is connected to an intelligent tape library equipped with two blocks of tapes 5 tera-byte total capacity which is designed as a long-term storage for additional copies.
 
This backup system by the means of special software provides the following services in accordance with the schedule set by the sys admin:

collects important data fro different servers and main offices;

stores the information in its storage backup system;

restores the data when required.
 
“Energy Consulting/Integration Ltd.” (Moscow) supplied the equipment and software for 1,4 million rubles. Installation works were performed by the system integrator of the company with the help of the experts form IT Department of Dagestan Branch of JSC “JSC HydroOGK”.
