Uzbekistan Airways, Korean Air Signed MoU
OREANDA-NEWS. May 19, 2008. During the meeting of top-management of national airline of Uzbekistan with the delegation members from Korea led by the vice-minister of the Korean Department of Transportation and the president of Korean Air, the memorandum of understanding between Uzbekistan Airways and Korean Air was signed, reported the press-centre of Uzbekistan Airways.
The issues of construction of the International logistic centre on the basis of Navoi International Airport, and also further bilateral collaboration between two companies are stipulated in the memorandum.
It was mentioned that Korean Air will operate part of its flights to European directions via Navoi. Korean partners will assist to organize a global net, aimed to increase passenger and cargo transportations and also to create necessary logistic infrastructure and industrial complexes on the territory adjoined to Navoi airport.
On the meeting the agreement on the increasing of freight transport through the Navoi airport was reached. This will be the basis for the further development of the collaboration between the airlines and the countries in whole.
According to the memorandum Uzbekistan Airways jointly with Korean Air at breakneck speed will form the freight routes inside the republic and abroad. This will favour the reorganization of Navoi air haven to international logistic hub.
In 2008-2009 at the suggestion of Korean Air Uzbekistan national airline will join to the international aviation alliance SkyTeam.
