URALMASH Will Supply Equipment for Visakhapatnam Steel Plant
OREANDA-NEWS. May 20, 2008. JSC ORMETO-YUMZ, incorporated into URALMASH, will supply a sintering machine with sintering area of 408 m2 for a new sintering plant, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, India. Shipment is expected late 2008.
The sintering plant under construction will be equipped with one sintering line having nominal capacity of 456 tons of sinter per hour. The plan is to commission the plant if June 2009. This is the first time when a sintering machine of this capacity is designed and manufactured in Russia or CIS.
The scope of supply will include associated process equipment: pug mill, pelletizer, shuttle distributor, single-roll crusher, bivalve seals. Sintering area of the machine is 408 m2 - this is new type of design not only for URALMASH but also for other machine building enterprises in CIS. It was developed using a number of new technical solutions, the focus was made on design "from scratch", since the use of existing designs is unacceptable. Some components will be manufactures of untraditional materials - special steel grades and polymers.
According to Sergey Karmantsev, Chief Engineer of ORMETO-YUMZ, the project is promising in many respects since it allow the Corporation to reinforce its position at Indian steelmaking equipment market. "Contract performance and successful commissioning of high capacity sintering plants gives us hope for supply of similar equipment in the nearest future", Sergey Karmantsev.
