OREANDA-NEWS. On 20 May 2008 was announced, that RTS Index, the benchmark of the Russian stock market, has set a new record. On May 19th, 2008 the closing value of RTS Index reached 2487.92 points.

The previous record value was registered on May 16th, 2008 with RTS Index hitting the record high of 2478.87 points.

The maximum intraday RTS Index value stood at 2498.10 points. The previous maximum value of 2478.87 points was also registered on May 16th, 2008.

RTS Index is the benchmark of the Russian stock market calculated on the basis of quotations of 50 most liquid stocks of highly capitalized Russian companies.
