"Kurskenergo" regional power administration was established on 13 May 1958 on the basis of the Order of Ministerial Council of RSFSR. Development of the large-scale power of the Kursk area started from the moment of start-up of the first turbine unit by 25 thousand kW capacity of Kursk Thermal Power Station-1.

Today the branch experiences a rebirth: there is an active process of updating of the grid complex - transmission lines are reconstructed and constructed, systems of automatics and telemechanics are modernized, the newest information technologies are implemented. In Kursk area, the developed power infrastructure was created which provides reliable and smooth electric power supply to consumers.
