Bryansk Engineering Plant Fitted 8 Tankers with Marine Diesels
OREANDA-NEWS. May 12, 2008. The new product tanker Transsib Bridge with the 8,310 kW DB62marine diesel (B&W 6S50MC-C by MAN classification) manufactured by the Bryansk Engineering Plant was unveiled in St Petersburg on April 29, 2008. Prior to the event the sea trials were performed and vessel acceptance act was signed by the customer, reported the press-centre of Bryansk Engineering Plant.
On the maiden trip Transsib Bridge will carry oil products from the new terminal in the Primorsk port (the Leningrad Region).
The Transsib Bridge is the eighth vessel of the series in production by the Admiralty Shipyards since 2001 on the order by the JSC Sovkomflot group of companies. The vessels are called after world-famous bridges beginning with T. Sovkomflot has already received the Troitsky Bridge, Torgovy Bridge, Tuchkov Bridge, Tower Bridge, Teatralny Bridge, Tavrichesky Bridge, and Tverskoy Bridge.
All the series vessels are powered by DB62 diesels (as power plants) manufactured by the BMZ. The diesel has six cylinders, 50 cm in diameter, the rate of 117 rpm, fuel consumption – 170 g/kWh (125 g/h.p.h).
The BMZ has manufactured 25 DB62 diesels. It will build three 12,900 h.p. DB62, including two ordered by a Chinese shipyard.
The DB62 (6S50MC-C) series maximum continuous power is 9,400 kW, but vessels of every project need a certain output of the power plant. That is why the customers receive various diesel modifications with different output, control systems, oiling systems, types of valves, etc.
The Transsib Bridge is a modern transport vessel with the range of 15,750 miles fitted with automated control systems, high efficiency technical means of ship systems and cargo operations. The vessel deadweight is 47,400 tons. The speed – 15 knots.
