SCM Reaches Agreement with SABMiller for Sarmat
OREANDA-NEWS. On May 08, 2008 SCM announced that it has agreed with SABMiller (London, Great Britain) on the transfer of a 99,84% interest in the Ukrainian brewing company Closed Joint Stock Company Sarmat, reported the press-centre of SCM.
The corporate rights will be transferred from SCM to SABMiller following obtaining all the required permits by the purchaser and proper arrangement of the transaction.
In particular the transaction arrangements will include obtaining approval of the anti-monopoly authorities and meeting other requirements of the current legislation.
“We have held a number of negotiations and we see SABMiller- a major world player on the brewing market- as the company, which will ensure the most efficient development of Sarmat”, said Illya Chelikidi, a member of the Supervisory Board of CJSC Sarmat. He also added: “We are sure that Sarmat and SABMiller have similar strategic interests in Ukraine and SabMiller will ensure further sustainable growth of the company using the world’s best practices”.
Upon agreement of the parties the details of the transaction will not be disclosed until the transaction is finalized.
