OREANDA-NEWS. On 12 May 2008 was announced, that Juris Gulbis, previously Lattelecom’s deputy board chairman and finance director, was elected to the post of executive director and board chairman. His nomination was approved on the previous day by the Lattelecom meeting of shareholders. It was also decided to elect Lattelecom network director Valdis Vancoviиs as deputy board chairman.
The executive director and board chairman was selected in a closed competition. Gulbis was chosen from among three candidates. The necessary documents will be submitted to the Latvian Company Register today, and the relevant changes in the Lattelecom board will be registered in the next few days.
“I am delighted to accept this challenge. Lattelecom’s top priority will not change – developing broadband Internet services in Riga and outside the city. Another fundamental area of operations will be improving client services and developing our self-service system. We will also work to enhance Lattelecom’s operating efficiency,” announced Gulbis.

Gulbis is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, which is the largest organisation of its kind.
“I am pleased that the process of finding a new executive director and board chairman for Lattelecom has concluded successfully and that the new director will be able to get to work.” said Lattelecom Council chairman Gundars Strautmanis.
Valdis Vancoviиs, who is the new deputy board chairman for Lattelecom, has worked for the company for 14 years. For the past four years he has been network director and board member for Lattelecom. He has worked in the area of international telecommunications services, helped to organise the company’s credit oversight system, and, for three years, led the inter-operator and wholesale business.
