OREANDA-NEWS. On May 07, 2008 as it was informed in the National Bank of Moldova, this growth is due to the increase in the balance of deposits in the national currency by 86,1million leis, or 0,7% and the balance of deposits in foreign currency- by 22,4 million leis or 0,2%.

As of late March, the balance of term deposits amounted to 6 billion 202,4 million leis , declining by 153,6 million leis in comparison with the previous month. The share of term deposits amounted to 28.1% of the total deposits in the banking system, decreasing by 0,8 points.

The volume of term deposits in MDL reduced by 23,5 million leis and totalled 1 billion 233,2 million leis. The decrease is due to reduced volume of term deposits from legal entities by 33,8 million leis (14,9%), while the amount of deposits from individuals grew by 15,3 million leis (1,5%).

By late March , the stock of term deposits in MDL totalled 8 billion 867,5 million leis, increasing by 350,6 million leis, or 4,1% in the result of growth of deposits of individuals by 304,9 million leis, or 4.2%, as well as deposits of legal entities by 45,7 million leis, or 3.4%.

The balance of term deposits in foreign currency reduced by 88,5 million leis or 1,2 % up to 7 billion 33,2 million leis.

In March 2008, the volume of term deposits in foreign currency amounted to 1 billion 38,9 million leis (\\$ 96 million), increasing by 34,3 million leis or 3,4 % due to the growth of deposits of legal entities by 29,9 million leis (24,9%) as well as deposits of individuals by 4,4 million leis or 0,5%.
